What to do with Your Wedding Photos

It’s easy to get caught up in the busyness of post-wedding life, but don't let your photos live online!

It’s easy to get caught up in the busyness of post-wedding life, with thank you cards to write, schedules to learn, boxes to move, and adjustments to make to routines and old habits. Adding our wedding images to our home made it just that–ours. Every morning when I sit at our kitchen table, my eyes inevitably bounce between our wedding portraits and our family photos. Every evening when I sit in our living room, I see images of our first look, and I can’t help but smile.

For those who, like us, might not even think about what to do with your wedding photos in the craziness of newlywed life, we’ve listed 3 simple things for you!  Here they are:

Keep them in a safe place

If you have digital files from your wedding day, back them up online. While downloading them to a laptop is a solid first step, making sure they're backed up online ensures you'll have those memories saved for a lifetime!

Purchase a wedding album

Being able to open an album full of moments and memories from your best day is one of the most emotional, beautiful, cherished ways to re-live your wedding day and re-experience all the things you felt that day. Some years ago my grandparents celebrated a huge anniversary milestone. My mom gathered old photos from their wedding day and created an album we were able to have made for them and for others in our family. I’ll never forget how surreal it was to see my grandparents, two people whose marriage has impacted so many, on their wedding day. Your wedding album will be a cherished piece of your story and your legacy. Chances are, the digital files from your wedding day won't be the way you look through your wedding images or pass them on to future generations. Your album will.

Display them

We believe your wedding photos are a testament to your story, your love, and your journey together.  While posting images on social media is a great way to share them with far-away friends and relatives, they’re not meant to live online! It’s important to display them in a more permanent place as well! Find places and ways to display them instead of keeping them in storage.

I'm a Co-founder and Lead Photographer at Studio Ostendo.

Wedding photography is my heartbeat. For me, it holds the perfect tension between creativity and authenticity, observation and connection. In front of my camera clients transform to friends, and behind it you'll usually find me tearing up, cheering you on, or holding my breath because of the raw goodness of the moment at hand.
