Jess and Nick planned their elopement in the Boise foothills and I was so honored to photograph it! While big weddings can come with more logistics, Jess and Nick just wanted to be together.
In my day to day life as a photographer and a mom, I’m finding more and more joy in simple things. So many beautiful things happen around us everyday. One of the things I love about elopements is the space they leave to slow down, to observe, to see those everyday things and make compelling photographs.
Jess and Nick officially got married earlier in the morning at a private ceremony. They planned on meeting me in the foothills for private vows that evening, but I was inspired to capture a few photos of them getting ready together and I was excited that they agreed!
I arrived at their Airbnb in the North End a little while before we had to leave for the foothills. We chatted a bit about their day, but I mostly just observed as they helped each other get ready. They sat side by side on the bed as they slipped their shoes on and before heading out, they brought their wedding cake over to the couch. We had a good laugh about their last name being spelled wrong on the cake (something I didn’t fix with AI because it’s a hilarious part of the story) before they cut into it and shared a piece.
We made our way up the winding roads into the foothills above Boise. It was a cloudy night with soft light and a gentle breeze. It was quiet all around except for the few cars we could hear until we walked the trail far enough to be surrounded by tall grasses, rolling hills, and staggering rock formations.
Jess and Nick continued a little farther down the path and shared some private vows and prayer while I photographed from a distance, honoring the sacredness of their words and prayers over one another and their marriage.
I never take it lightly when couples invite me into their celebrations and I loved photographing this personal elopement in Boise for Jess and Nick. Here’s what they said about their experience with me:
“We truly couldn't have asked for a better photographer! From the moment we met Becky, she made us feel completely comfortable. She is hilarious, easygoing, and made us laugh the entire time, which made being in front of the camera feel so natural. She guided us every step of the way, helped us with posing without making anything feel forced, and somehow captured moments that felt so genuinely us.
When we looked through our gallery for the first time, it felt like we were reliving our wedding day all over again. Every photo brought back a memory, a laugh, or a little moment we didn't even realize she had captured. We honestly can't pick a favorite because we love every single one. These are photos we'll treasure for the rest of our lives, and we're so grateful to have them.
Becky went above and beyond throughout the entire experience. She wasn't just our photographer. She felt like a friend who truly cared about making our day special. We are so grateful she was part of our elopement, and we'll treasure these memories forever.”

Wedding photography is my heartbeat. For me, it holds the perfect tension between creativity and authenticity, observation and connection. In front of my camera clients transform to friends, and behind it you'll usually find me tearing up, cheering you on, or holding my breath because of the raw goodness of the moment at hand.
