Mountain Elopement in Idaho

Laid back summer mountain elopement in Stanley, Idaho

“Just the two of us with the mountains as witness,”

That’s how Sydney described her hopes for their mountain elopement and I knew I had to photograph it.

Photographing elopements holds a unique kind of trust and collaboration. When couples choose me to come along on one of their greatest adventures, it’s usually just us. It gives me a beautiful mission: to make space for them, for their love and their story and to be an artistic, warm collaborative partner. By the end of Sydney and Ben’s mountain elopement, it felt like we’d been friends for ages.

Sydney & Ben’s mountain elopement in Stanley

‍

Sydney and Ben met me in Stanley, Idaho for their elopement but it wasn’t their first stop. Earlier that day they drove through Sun Valley, stopped to explore and bathe in the river, and finally pulled up in their adventure van to become husband and wife. They got ready together under the quiet blue sky, and we took off along the trail, their dogs along for the occasion.

With panoramic mountain views behind them, Sydney and Ben took each other’s hands to say their sacred vows. Tears streamed down Sydney’s face as they spoke those meaningful, personal words, promising each other forever. To watch them together was to see love, two people who fit together exactly as they were meant to.

In the time we spent together after their vows, I saw so much life and freedom and joy in their interactions, and I know you’ll see it in their pictures too.

Planning a mountain elopement in Idaho

‍

Sometimes the elopements I photograph take place in really personal locations and sometimes couples choose a new adventure together. For Sydney and Ben, Stanley, Idaho was a familiar place—the perfect spot for their mountain elopement—but they needed a little help with the details and locations. Together we chose locations that fit the vision they had for their intimate wedding celebration.

Elopement Photographer in Idaho

‍

I’m Becky, a photographer based in Boise, Idaho where I live with my favorite guy and our son. I love photographing weddings—the celebrations that mark the beginning of lifelong stories that are so significant. Being invited into the most personal celebrations and intimate stories is one of my greatest privileges as a photographer. Beyond amazing locations and beautiful details, I love photography because of the people. Camera in hand, I simultaneously get to know people and give them the gift of seeing a deeper part of themselves and the people they love. Wedding photography is my heartbeat. For me, it holds the perfect tension between creativity and authenticity, observation and connection.
