It was a sunny drive into the mountains in Idaho for David and Erlyne’s winter couple photos! I met them in the mountains just a few days before Valentine’s Day to capture some couple photos for them AND I was in on a little secret for the shoot!
We roamed around the snowy mountainside in the Boise National Forest before stopping for some photos along the river. David reached into his pocket, got down on one knee, and when Erlyne turned around, he proposed! I captured photos of the whole thing, and it was just so special! Turned out that their Boise National Forest photos were actually engagement photos!
After they had a few minutes together, we spent the rest of their engagement session celebrating and capturing photos that show how sweet their love is.

Weather in the mountains can be unpredictable. When preparing for your session, bring an extra coat/jacket for higher altitudes, and consider bringing hand warmers if your session is in the winter! If your session is in the summer, bring plenty of water and check for wildfires/road closures before heading into the Boise National Forest.
Make sure you and/or your photographer scouts locations ahead of time OR give yourself plenty of time to roam around with your photographer in the mountains. For this engagement session, I scouted the spot a few weeks in advance to make sure it was accessible, had a safe place to park, and to check the light! Sometimes, though, the best locations are found when you have time to wander and explore!
As always, it’s important to leave no trace and pack out what you bring in whenever you’re exploring the Boise National Forest!
