Taking proposal photos is so fun, especially when the plan includes something really personal. When Stewart reached out to ask if I’d take his Boise proposal photos, I couldn’t wait to hear his plans!
Stewart and Katie met in school and then ended up serving together at the air force base in Mountain Home. On their first date, they were in Boise with a group of friends, floating the Boise river. They stopped at a red bridge along the river and jumped off together into the water, so when Stewart decided where to propose, he knew that same red bridge would bring their story full circle.
On a chilly evening in March, Stewart and Katie had plans to go out for dinner and drinks in Boise. He took Katie for a walk first, and ended up at the Boise River where I was pretending to take photos of my husband and son together. They walked past us onto the bridge where Stewart got down on one knee and asked Katie to marry him. She was so surprised and loved that he took her back to that spot where they had their first date years ago!
My plan with Stewart worked and Katie had no idea I was taking photos until a few minutes after she said yes! With snow starting to fall for a few minutes just after they got engaged, we had whirlwind weather. And in spite of all the surprises that evening, their photos are the perfect reminder of his thoughtful proposal. Congrats Stewart and Katie!

Wedding photography is my heartbeat. For me, it holds the perfect tension between creativity and authenticity, observation and connection. In front of my camera clients transform to friends, and behind it you'll usually find me tearing up, cheering you on, or holding my breath because of the raw goodness of the moment at hand.
