Co-owner Becky Dean is the lead photographer and business savant at Studio Ostendo, leading all wedding photography and portrait clients through the creative process to create photographs that are evocative, nuanced, and personal.

2024 was an amazing year for wedding photography at Studio Ostendo! I (Becky) say every year that we truly work with some of the nicest people on the planet, and 2024 was no exception. From weddings in Boise to elopements in Stanley, our Idaho weddings were both stunning and personal. We traveled back to Chicago for a few weddings, some creative engagement sessions, and to photograph past clients and some of the people they love!
For me, photography is the perfect blend of art and people—and one of my greatest privileges as a photographer is getting to know the people in front of my camera and capturing their humanity and experience through photographs.
This year wouldn’t have been near as fun without my creative partner/ second photographer/ assistant/ love of my life, Kaleb. Our clients know him as the photographer floating around capturing breathtaking in between moments. When he shoots with me he not only creates moving photographs, he also takes care of everything: from grabbing a new roll of film to tying bow ties, Kaleb is my go to sidekick!
2024 brought us to some old favorite locations and jaw dropping new destinations. We photographed weddings and engagement sessions in Boise, Stanley, McCall, Sun Valley, Twin Falls, Oregon, and Chicago to name a few!
When we’re photographing weddings and engagement sessions, we’ll do anything to get the shot. Both Kaleb and I have strong creative vision and a nuanced observant eye, so we often forgo the convenient and most of the time it does pay off!
For me, there’s nothing like the moment I click the shutter and know I’ve just created a photograph that will move people. It’s my joy and privilege to be in sacred spaces and a part of intimate personal moments with clients. Seeing the emotion on their faces when they see an image I’ve captured for them is so rewarding, and I’m so thankful for each and every client who has taken the time to tell others about their experience behind the camera with me. Words cannot describe how amazing the experience of working with Becky and Kaleb at Studio Ostendo. For our engagement photos, Becky asked if we had anywhere that was special to the both of us. Our favorite spot is in the mountains and about three hours away from Boise. Becky and Kaleb eagerly agreed to take a weekend trip to meet us at our favorite place for our engagement photos. Studio Ostendo is worth it every single time. My now husband and I found Becky and Kaleb when we had just gotten engaged back in 2021! They were our favorite vendors on our wedding day. They take the time to get to know you, ask what you hope to get out of each season and truly try to create whatever vision you have for your photos. I truly believe I have the best job. Photographing weddings means so much more to me than delivering photographs. Weekend after weekend I get invited into a couples’ best day and experience it alongside them. I get to chat with parents and grandparents as they watch their kids get married and their families grow. I talk to best friends, to sisters and brothers, and I hear stories of friendships and relationships that have transformed them, made their lives better. I see couples become parents and reconnect to photograph their babies and growing families. This year Kaleb and I have grieved with couples who have lost loved ones—grandparents and parents we met at their weddings—and we’ve seen the value and cherished gift photographs are in hard seasons of life. I am truly grateful for this work.

Wedding photography is my heartbeat. For me, it holds the perfect tension between creativity and authenticity, observation and connection.
