Gyoice and Chris had been together for over a decade, building a life and a family together, but never had the chance to celebrate with family and friends or have the chateau wedding of their dreams until this summer.
Gyoice told us that the first time she saw Chateau des Fleurs, she just knew that it was the perfect place for their wedding. She loved its elegance and knew she could have the wedding of her dreams there.
With the help of their planner, Priscilla of Daffodil Events, Gyoice and Chris drew together a stunning watermelon pink, white, and gold wedding. With navy to complement the bright pinks and oranges of the floral design by Lae Floral Event Design, the bold color palette of Chris and Gyoice’s wedding aligned with the joyful, bright feeling of their day.
When we asked Gyoice what her favorite memory from the wedding day was, she recalled how special it was to say their wedding vows out loud to one another. “It made me feel the renewed commitment,” she said. Chris’s standout memory was dancing with his bride. He recalled, “that was very memorable because it was at that point where I felt like everything worked out the way we had imagined.” Gyoice and Chris’s long awaited wedding day was everything they’d hoped it would be. Gyoice said that when they saw each other for the first time that day, “it was as if we were seeing each other for the first time all over again.”
To make the day even more special, Gyoice and Chris included their sons in their wedding party and FaceTimed with family who couldn’t make the trip from Africa. Gyoice and Chris entrusted two beloved friends and guests to emcee their reception that kicked off with some traditional African dancing by the wedding party as they entered together, keeping the guests on their feet in anticipation for the bride and groom.
When asked what advice they would give to other couples planning a wedding, Gyoice and Chris said to “choose vendors who can help bring out your ideas. It is always difficult to know exactly how an idea can be brought to reality, but with the right vendors, it can work like magic. And your dream wedding takes time and dedication. Make time for it.”
Wedding photography is my heartbeat. For me, it holds the perfect tension between creativity and authenticity, observation and connection. In front of my camera clients transform to friends, and behind it you'll usually find me tearing up, cheering you on, or holding my breath because of the raw goodness of the moment at hand.
