When we arrived on Elyse and Seamus’s wedding day, there was excited energy in the air amongst their family and friends. Elyse had a specific vision for the effortless elegance that marked their Jacob Henry Mansion wedding, and it came through in each detail.
Elyse and Seamus held all their wedding day events at the Jacob Henry Mansion. Following the ceremony guests were serenaded by a jazz band during cocktail hour where they enjoyed signature cocktails and conversation on the mansion grounds. Their reception, bursting with energy, was held in the mansion itself, the dance floor being the center of attention for the remainder of the evening.
On each wedding day we photograph, there are specific moments that remain etched in our brains—sometimes because of the photographs captured during them, sometimes because of the emotions associated with them, sometimes because of the energy in the room. On Elyse and Seamus’s wedding day, a few of our favorite moments included Elyse’s dad seeing her for the first time that morning. He walked into her room, and had to stop to take a breath before making it all the way over to pull her in for a hug through tears.
Just a few minutes earlier, Elyse and her mom had spritzed her grandmother’s perfume in the room as a way to honor her, remember her, and include her in Elyse’s wedding day. An emotional moment, we loved that they took time to pause and remember her in that significant way.
We loved the look on Elyse’s face both when they were pronounced husband and wife and as they were introduced into their reception. Both were looks of complete joy that you can see written all over their images.
Finally, after the dance floor was packed with friends and family, Elyse’s dad joined the band for a saxophone performance not a single person there will forget.

Wedding photography is my heartbeat. For me, it holds the perfect tension between creativity and authenticity, observation and connection. In front of my camera clients transform to friends, and behind it you'll usually find me tearing up, cheering you on, or holding my breath because of the raw goodness of the moment at hand.
