We’ve photographed weddings at Journeyman Distillery in Three Oaks, Michigan a handful of times, but when Miranda and Tanner brought us to the American Factory in Valparaiso for the first time, we were so excited! Their Journeyman Distillery wedding was stunning!
Journeyman Distillery is a distillery crafting organic spirits at two locations—Three Oaks, Michigan and Valparaiso, Indiana. I love what the two event spaces have in common—wide open space with industrial vibes that make it easy to bring your own personality into the event space there! The Valparaiso location has the bonus perk of central time and location convenience for Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana couples planning a wedding.
When Miranda and I chatted about her Northwest Indiana wedding, she told me that they loved the layout and space at the American Factory at Journeyman Distillery. For a winter wedding in Indiana, it had plenty of space to hold both an indoor ceremony and reception without doing a room flip!
Miranda had been a bridesmaid in a wedding we photographed a few years earlier, so when she inquired we were SO excited to capture her wedding day! As we talked about her wedding plans, I resonated so much with her vision. Miranda was a stunning and confident bride—uninterested in complicated plans and so excited to spend time with people. I remember her and Tanner telling me that for them it wasn’t about capturing every single moment that day, but choosing a photographer who would capture photographs that encompassed the emotion and story of the day in an artful way. No excess, no fuss, just what’s important, and they made it look effortless.

I’m Becky, a photographer based in the mountain west where I live with my favorite guy and our son. I grew up on the south side of Chicago and travel back often to photograph weddings in Chicago and Northwest Indiana where my family currently lives. I love photographing weddings—the celebrations that mark the beginning of lifelong stories that are so significant. Being invited into the most personal celebrations and intimate stories is one of my greatest privileges as a photographer. Beyond amazing locations and beautiful details, I love photography because of the people. Camera in hand, I simultaneously get to know people and give them the gift of seeing a deeper part of themselves and the people they love.
