Danielle and Matt met in undergrad at Northwestern, so Evanston was the perfect spot for their summer engagement session! In typical midwest fashion, the clouds rolled in just a few minutes after we started photographing the two of them. It thundered for a bit, but the rain held off until just after we said goodbye—giving us just enough time to watch Danielle and Matt relax in front of the camera and capture some stunning lakeside images.
We always tell our couples that you don't have to be an expert to be in front of the camera, but instead being yourselves and focusing on each other creates the perfect images—and Danielle and Matt did just that. It was so fun to see the in between moments as they laughed together. They've been together for over six years, and we could tell.
They're planning a spring wedding next year, and we love how raw their approach is. When we chatted with Danielle and Matt about wedding plans months ago, they told us how they're cutting out all the things that stress them out, planning a wedding they'll love with the people they love. We resonate with how important their families are to them and their wedding, and can't wait to see them celebrate together! Danielle and Matt, thanks for trusting us with images of this sweet season of life, for showing us around Evanston and getting comfortable enough to take your shoes off and laugh together at the beach. :) We're so excited for your wedding next year! Hugs, Becky & Kaleb.
Wedding photography is my heartbeat. For me, it holds the perfect tension between creativity and authenticity, observation and connection. In front of my camera clients transform to friends, and behind it you'll usually find me tearing up, cheering you on, or holding my breath because of the raw goodness of the moment at hand.
