We were driving on Lake Shore Drive and Kaleb asked me if there was a building or area that was most "Chicago" to me. Hands down it's the lakefront. From riding my bike along the Lakefront Path as a kid to feeling the cool breeze coming off the lake on a run to photographing wonderful couple after couple as the waves roll into the concrete path. To me, the lakefront is Chicago. When we met Katie and Max in Lincoln Park, they told us how work brought two California natives to Chicago. They got engaged just after Christmas. She thought they were going out to eat at a local spot back in California, but instead she found her closest family gathered to celebrate their engagement. Katie and Max are planning a Lake Tahoe Wedding for next fall, so engagement photos in the new home they've found in Chicago was the perfect way to document this season of engaged life!
We had the best summer evening with Katie and Max, walking together from Lincoln Park over Lake Shore Drive as the sun raked across the Chicago skyline then dipped behind the clouds. In true Chicago fashion, it peeked out again just before it set, casting a soft warm glow. Just as the sun set, I told Katie and Max that we would take a few steps back and let them have a few moments, entirely unposed, together. They held hands and he leaned in for kiss after kiss. They laughed together as they talked, their engagement session transforming into the beginning of their date night together.
Katie and Max, we loved capturing some Chicago engagement photos for you! Congrats on your engagement, on becoming puppy parents, on finding love and holding onto it. We wish you all the best as you plan your Lake Tahoe wedding! Hugs, Becky & Kaleb.
Wedding photography is my heartbeat. For me, it holds the perfect tension between creativity and authenticity, observation and connection. In front of my camera clients transform to friends, and behind it you'll usually find me tearing up, cheering you on, or holding my breath because of the raw goodness of the moment at hand.
