When Macee and I connected about doing maternity photos at her home in Boise, I loved her vision! She had already done a maternity photoshoot earlier in her pregnancy, but wanted to do something simple and meaningful at home!
She and Craig invited me into their home in the North End of Boise. The sun was shining through the windows on a mild winter Saturday, and it was so peaceful. We meandered around their house together, finding beautiful pockets of light and everyday spots to capture some photos of their family during this stage in Macee’s pregnancy in the home they’ll bring their baby girl home to. We kept it simple and sweet—my favorite part of the session was at the end.
Macee had told me that she loves the vintage feel of film, so I chose a film camera to mix in while we finished the maternity session in the baby’s room. Macee had been working on a mural for her baby girl and had recently told me that she had a few sections left to finish. I asked if she wanted to paint for a few minutes before I packed up my cameras, and she excitedly said yes!
She grabbed the cardboard palette she had been using, splattered with paint from the many painting sessions she’d already had up there. A bookshelf nearby was riddled with paintbrushes, paints, and baby books—she grabbed one and began to paint. I just loved watching her work on painting this beautiful mural that her baby girl would sleep under each day. I snapped a few pictures and left her in her creative element.
I love the pictures from Macee and Craig’s maternity session at home for so many reasons. While it can be fun to go out and do photos in a beautiful outdoor location or with a larger creative direction process, this session was perfect for the season this family is in. I love that they’ll look back on these maternity photos in their home and remember the furniture they had and the way they lived in the space before they had kids. I love that their baby girl will have pictures of the creative process of her mom breathing beauty and creativity into her space.

I’m Becky, a lifestyle and family photographer based in Boise, Idaho where I live with my husband and son. Each time I pick up my mom’s old film camera to snap a photo of my boys or grab a phone photo of a mundane moment with my son makes me a better photographer for my clients. As an artist I’m not only creating my favorite work with clients. Day in and day out, I’m capturing the things in my own life worth remembering—the stories I’ll be retelling for years—and I’d love to do that for you.
I love photographing families and the life they are building together. While I love creating beautiful photographs that catalog another year gone by for families, I’m obsessed with capturing raw interactions and families as they truly are. What I hope for my lifestyle and family sessions is that they become a time for families to connect with their loved ones in a way that’s meaningful to them.

Wedding photography is my heartbeat. For me, it holds the perfect tension between creativity and authenticity, observation and connection. In front of my camera clients transform to friends, and behind it you'll usually find me tearing up, cheering you on, or holding my breath because of the raw goodness of the moment at hand.
