As we walked to North Avenue Beach to finish their Chicago engagement session in the warm light just before sunset, Kennedy and Luke told us that they've known each other almost their whole lives. Both from Michigan, they moved to Chicago a few years ago to work and live downtown. When we met in Lincoln Park, their apartment just a few minutes down the street, they told us all about their wedding plans for next summer. They're planning a destination wedding in Mexico—the perfect nod to their intimate proposal when Luke asked Kennedy to marry him during a getaway weekend!
When you've known each other for as long as Kennedy and Luke, you share a certain history. Growing up in the same town, attending the same schools—there's an ease to knowing how you fit in each other's life, knowing where the other came from. And while Kennedy and Luke share that history, they're also stepping out and doing their own thing, creating a life and memories in their Chicago home that will influence the history of their own family. We hope these image become long standing heirlooms of the Chicago chapter of their relationship.
Kennedy and Luke, we loved spending the evening capturing this season of engaged life! Thanks for trusting us to document this part of your story! We wish you all the best as you get ready to say I do at your Mexico wedding next year! Hugs, Becky & Kaleb.
Wedding photography is my heartbeat. For me, it holds the perfect tension between creativity and authenticity, observation and connection. In front of my camera clients transform to friends, and behind it you'll usually find me tearing up, cheering you on, or holding my breath because of the raw goodness of the moment at hand.
