Northwest Indiana Family Photos at Home

Some of my favorite projects are for repeat clients, the ones whose stories feel known with exciting surprises along the way. It’s always a joy to catch up, see growing families, and capture a new season of life. That’s exactly what I did for this sweet family of four in northwest Indiana. I met them at their home for family photos and I could have stayed all day.

Their house backs up to a forest preserve, and this family has plenty of room to play and explore. We stomped through the Indiana early spring mud and branches, picked up sticks, and had a lot of laughs. Life with kids isn’t always picture perfect, especially life with toddlers. So often there are big laughs followed by zoning eyes, tired tears, or bold demands. No matter the feelings or vibe, there’s always belonging. 

Capturing life at home

We moved into the playroom for the second part of their family photos with me. Alex and I had a good laugh about “boy mom” life, filled with monster trucks, wrestling, and non stop energy. I loved seeing the boys play in their everyday spots, oscillating between playing side by side and hanging with mom and dad. 

I look through these family photos and see so much fun, a life full of energy and fun and play. But I also see tender connection, a brotherhood forming, a family embracing life as it comes. To the Rudengas…what an honor as always to capture it for you.
