As a photographer in Boise, we love the soft colors of the landscape in the foothills for photos. No matter what kind of light we have for engagement or wedding photos, the textured landscape with mountains on the horizon in one direction and the Boise valley in the distance the other way make every angle the perfect backdrop for photos of our couples.
Hailey and Nich met us at the Military Reserve in Boise for their engagement photos in the foothills on a cold winter morning. We started at the Cottonwood Creek trailhead and made our way up to a view point that had stunning views of downtown Boise. With snow on the paths and a breeze in the air, Hailey and Nich's winter engagement photos in Boise are a fun opposite to the summer wedding they're planning. Their summer wedding will be at the Cottage at Riverbend just outside of Boise.
With clouds overhead we were able to use a variety of locations within the Military Reserve. The cold blues and purples of the snow covered mountains in the distance brought out the blues and maroons in Hailey and Nich's attire.
Hailey and Nich met in college, and while they say they aren't romantic, they are 100% a perfect match. Watching them in front of the camera, we could see their chemistry as they laughed together and kept each other warm.
Nich proposed to Hailey while they were snowshoeing on a frozen lake. As photographers, we don't always recommend that couples take engagement photos in the winter, but it was the perfect choice for these two! We love that the feeling and location of their engagement photos echoes the day they got engaged. Their love for outdoor adventures together will always be a part of their love story, and you can see that in their engagement photos at the Military Reserve. Now they are patiently planning their beautiful outdoor summer wedding.
