Stanley, Idaho Elopement at Stanley Lake

A windy summer elopement overlooking the Sawtooths in Stanley

Ryan and Kelly got married during an intimate ceremony with their immediate families overlooking the Sawtooths. The summer day was just perfect for their elopement in Stanley, Idaho, and we absolutely loved being a part of it.

Elopement in the Sawtooths

It is always an honor to photograph weddings, elopements, and significant milestones for couples and families, but there is something so special about being invited into an intimate wedding celebration or elopement. For Ryan and Kelly’s elopement in Stanley, just their immediate families were present with them in addition to us. Being present with that exclusive group made us feel like one of the family, and allowed us to capture photographs with walls down.

On the morning of their elopement, we met Ryan at a scenic overlook just a few miles outside of Stanley to caravan over to Stanley Lake. When we arrived at the lake, Kelly’s family was setting up while Kelly changed into her dress. Ryan’s brother officiated the wedding, which took place on the edge of Stanley Lake with an incredible view of the Sawtooths across the lake.

Ryan and Kelly saw each other for the first time that day as Kelly’s dad walked her down the aisle through the trees. They shared personal vows and Ryan’s brother pronounced them husband and wife! Following their intimate wedding ceremony, everyone shared a toast and some cake at a picnic table nearby. With Kelly’s family driving in from Iowa, it was so special having all their loved ones together in one place to celebrate their wedding in Stanley.

Why Choose Stanley, Idaho to Elope?

For Ryan and Kelly, Stanley was the perfect place to elope in Idaho because of the amazing scenery. The Sawtooths made a stunning backdrop for their wedding ceremony, and we took some photos in Stanley after their celebration with family. Almost anywhere you look in Stanley is a beautiful setting for a wedding. Ryan and Kelly also love hiking, and with some of the best hiking in the state of Idaho, Stanley was a great choice for their elopement.

I’m Becky, a photographer based in Boise, Idaho where I live with my favorite guy and our son. I love photographing weddings—the celebrations that mark the beginning of lifelong stories that are so significant. Being invited into the most personal celebrations and intimate stories is one of my greatest privileges as a photographer. Beyond amazing locations and beautiful details, I love photography because of the people. Camera in hand, I simultaneously get to know people and give them the gift of seeing a deeper part of themselves and the people they love. Wedding photography is my heartbeat. For me, it holds the perfect tension between creativity and authenticity, observation and connection. In front of my camera clients transform to friends, and behind it you'll usually find me tearing up, cheering you on, or holding my breath because of the raw goodness of the moment at hand.
