Studio Ostendo operates in multiple creative fields including photography, design, and education.
As photographers who love natural light, we are always paying attention to the sun and its reflections. We love the color, intensity, and glow of sunlight as it’s coming close to setting! It’s different than any other time of day. So as we work with couples to finalize their wedding day timeline, we encourage them to squeeze in time for sunset portraits! Here’s why we think it’s a great idea:
1 | A lot of wedding photos are taken mid-day, when the sun is high and casts harsh shadows on faces. We always search for the best light possible, but sunset light always takes the cake. It’s perfectly golden and makes for STUNNING, dreamy portraits.
2 | Sunset portraits often more intimate. They have a sense of fresh love. Most couples are comfortable together all day long, but once the wedding is over, the excitement and nervous jitters are out, and the couple is married, their demeanor holds a newlywed glow that blows us away every time.
3 | Wedding days are often fast-paced and sneaking away for sunset portraits gives couples one extra chance to pause, get away, take a breath, and just BE TOGETHER.
Wedding photography is my heartbeat. For me, it holds the perfect tension between creativity and authenticity, observation and connection. In front of my camera clients transform to friends, and behind it you'll usually find me tearing up, cheering you on, or holding my breath because of the raw goodness of the moment at hand.
