Photographs of everyday things are a gift. That was the thought I kept having as I stood across from Zoey and Luan at a thrift store in Boise. When we planned their engagement session, we talked about the kinds of things they love doing together day to day, about the dates they enjoy going on and the activities that feel most like them. That’s how we ended up taking their engagement photos at a thrift store in Boise.
We had a beautiful sunny evening in Boise and we met up at Art Haus Bar to grab drinks and take some photos there first. Zoey and Luan ordered drinks and played a hand of cards before we stepped outside and walked the city streets, making our way over to a local thrift store.

Zoey and Luan love thrifting together, so they wandered around, looked through records and books, tried on some things, and stole a few kisses in corners before walking out of the thrift store hand in hand. I loved taking their thrift store engagement photos plus some others around Boise because it was so genuinely them. The whole session felt so connected to how they spend time together. As I followed them around the thrift store, I kept thinking about how cool it will be for them to come back to these photos later in life. Whether or not they still drop into thrift stores for fun, they’ll have such vivid memories of what it felt like to be young and in love, caught up in each other’s presence.

Special thanks to the amazing staff over at KIN and Art Haus Bar for letting Zoey and Luan start their date night in the space!

I’m Becky, a photographer based in Idaho where I live with my favorite guy and our son. Being invited into the most personal celebrations and intimate stories is one of my greatest privileges as a photographer. Beyond amazing locations, I love photography because of the people. Camera in hand, I simultaneously get to know people and give them the gift of seeing a deeper part of themselves and the people they love. I believe in photographs that are evocative, nuanced, and personal, and I’d love to create some for you.

Wedding photography is my heartbeat. For me, it holds the perfect tension between creativity and authenticity, observation and connection. In front of my camera clients transform to friends, and behind it you'll usually find me tearing up, cheering you on, or holding my breath because of the raw goodness of the moment at hand.
