It was an unusually warm afternoon in November when we met Kelly and Ben at the Wrigley Building downtown Chicago for their engagement photos. We first met them months ago on a video call, when we got the chance to learn more about them and their wedding plans! For Kelly and Ben, Chicago hasn't always been home but it is now. Expecting to welcome lots of out of town family and friends next summer, their wedding will be a day they'll cherish, and we can tell with each detail they're planning that they just can't wait to enjoy their celebration—that they're looking forward to savoring each moment with each other and their loved ones.
We used the Wrigley Building and the epic skyline at North Avenue Beach as a backdrop for Kelly and Ben. I love the way Chicago architecture provides timeless visual interest to each image, but also allows us to frame couples in a way that draws the eye toward them and their relationship.
My favorite moments during Kelly and Ben's engagement photos were the times I asked each one to tell the other two things they love most about each other. It's moments like those we see glimpses of love all over their faces. I hope their friends and family see it too when they see their photographs hanging on their walls someday.
Kelly and Ben, we had so much fun spending some time with you two! We love how your engagement photos pause this season of life, showing your relationship now as you wait to become husband and wife next year. We can't wait to celebrate with you then! Hugs, Becky & Kaleb.
Wedding photography is my heartbeat. For me, it holds the perfect tension between creativity and authenticity, observation and connection. In front of my camera clients transform to friends, and behind it you'll usually find me tearing up, cheering you on, or holding my breath because of the raw goodness of the moment at hand.
