Wandering around the foothills for these mountain engagement photos with Elly and Jacob was amazing. In the weeks leading up to their engagement session, we spent hours scouting locations and trails in Boise and found two locations I couldn’t wait to visit with Elly and Jacob!
We met at the trailhead in Boise for our first location and walked along the sunny path, chatting about wedding details, their life in Oklahoma, and the time they got to spend with family during their long weekend visit to Idaho. We captured some magic of these two together—Elly and Jacob had such a stunning comfortable confidence together in front of the camera. After years of doing long distance, they cherish quality time, and we could tell how easily they fall into place together as we photographed them.
As the sun got lower and lower, we drove up the mountain to a second location, one with distant views of Boise in one direction and sweeping views of the foothills on the horizon in the other. I love the last half hour or so that we spend photographing couples for their engagement photos—when they’ve already spent some time in front of the camera and there's a noticeable difference in the pace and ease. For Elly and Jacob, those last minutes contained some of my favorite photographs captured, photographs that feel just like them. It’s easy to take amazing photographs in the mountains with views like these, but I love that Elly and Jacob’s photos aren’t just about the beautiful location. When I look at their mountain engagement photos, I see so much of them and the way they love each other. It’s the best.
These engagement photos have me over the moon for Elly and Jacob, and we cannot wait to photograph them again this summer and celebrate their wedding!

Wedding photography is my heartbeat. For me, it holds the perfect tension between creativity and authenticity, observation and connection. In front of my camera clients transform to friends, and behind it you'll usually find me tearing up, cheering you on, or holding my breath because of the raw goodness of the moment at hand.
