As soon as I talked with Elly about her wedding in Twin Falls, Idaho, I knew that we would love photographing it! Finding a photographer for your wedding can be stressful, and when Elly and Jacob were in the midst of their search was when we first connected. After our conversation, Elly sent me a follow up email thanking me for helping her focus on the things that are most important on her wedding day, and from then on it seemed that each time we connected through the wedding planning process, Elly was laser focused on keeping those things at the forefront.
For Elly and Jacob, family, tradition, and being in the moment were really important for their wedding. While their families live far apart from each other, it was clear in every speech and every interaction that their families had a huge part in shaping who they are and how they are approaching their marriage. It was so special to hear Elly’s dad and Jacob’s mom speak to the guests at the wedding reception, sharing stories of how Elly and Jacob both have a treasured place in their families.
As Elly and I prepared for her wedding photography, she held firm to the plan that she wanted to spend a small amount of time taking staged photos and spend most of her wedding day present with her family and friends. And watching her do just that on her wedding day was pure joy. When Kaleb told me about the morning with Jacob and his groomsmen, he said the same thing. We left space in the timeline for Elly and Jacob to spend key parts of the day however they wanted. For Jacob, that meant he had time to spontaneously ride a tandem bike with his friends but also gather with his groomsmen to pray together before their Catholic wedding ceremony.
I loved Elly and Jacob’s approach to focusing on being present over spending the entire day taking photos.
Another ode to family legacy during Elly and Jacob’s wedding day was that Elly wore her mom’s wedding dress. It fit Elly like a glove, and through the day her parents kept saying how special it was to see her in the same dress her mom wore on her wedding day.
Elly and Jacob got married in Twin Falls, Idaho—Elly’s hometown. Elly grew up going to church at the Catholic Church where they had their wedding ceremony. Following the ceremony, guests greeted and hugged Elly and Jacob outside on the church steps. With sunny skies, the spirit of celebration was palpable. One of my favorite photographs from the day is of Elly’s dad holding her head and kissing her on the forehead after the ceremony. He had kissed her that way a couple times throughout the day, but in that particular moment there was so much joy and love.
Everyone gathered for dinner and dancing under the tent at Canyon Springs Golf Course in Twin Falls. Located in the canyon, the views from their reception were beautiful as the sun went down.
I’m Becky, a photographer based in Boise, Idaho where I live with my favorite guy and our son. I love photographing weddings—the celebrations that mark the beginning of lifelong stories that are so significant. Being invited into the most personal celebrations and intimate stories is one of my greatest privileges as a photographer. Beyond amazing locations and beautiful details, I love photography because of the people. Camera in hand, I simultaneously get to know people and give them the gift of seeing a deeper part of themselves and the people they love.

Wedding photography is my heartbeat. For me, it holds the perfect tension between creativity and authenticity, observation and connection. In front of my camera clients transform to friends, and behind it you'll usually find me tearing up, cheering you on, or holding my breath because of the raw goodness of the moment at hand.
