Wedding Hair: Up or Down?

Should you wear your hair up or down on your wedding day?

I went back and forth for months. I love the way my hair looks when it’s down, BUT would it distract from the back of my dress, would it deflate and lose curl, would it get frizzy if it rained or got too humid?

I ended up choosing to wear my hair down, because it felt like me, and I knew I would regret wearing it up. BUT I’m also the bride who borrowed a hair tie from a cousin after dancing for 10 minutes, pulled my curls into a low messy bun, and danced for 4 straight hours at my reception. I was married and having the time of my life with my closest friends and family.

So should you wear your hair up or down on your wedding day?

Here are 3 things to consider when choosing a wedding hairstyle:

1. Endurance

Wedding hair has to last ALL DAY.  Will the hairstyle you choose last at least 8 hours and still look great? (Even if you dance the night away like we did at our wedding?)

2. Hair Type

Some hair holds shape really well, and some hair doesn’t. Whether or not you have the kind of hair that holds curls or shape all day long, consider choosing a style you love that works well with your hair type.

3. Conditions

What if it’s super humid on your wedding day?  What if it rains or snows?  Think about the time of year, average temperatures, and other weather conditions when choosing a style!

Many brides choose to wear their hair up because it often lasts longer, endures weather conditions better, and most brides can find a style that looks great on them. Ultimately, there are pros and cons for both. Endless style possibilities exist for both up and down hairstyles, and you can definitely find one of either kind that fits your personality and will look amazing on your wedding day!
