Studio Ostendo operates in multiple creative fields including photography, design, and education.
Your welcome party or rehearsal dinner is often the first event that kicks off your wedding celebration. Close family and friends show up to prepare, mingle, and begin celebrating your love story. As wedding photographers, we love when couples prioritize experiences and events that are personal to them. As humans and artists, we love photographing meaningful interactions between loved ones. Your welcome party or rehearsal dinner deserves to be photographed!
Here are four reasons to include photography coverage for your welcome party or rehearsal dinner:
For couples who haven’t done an engagement session, the welcome party is a great way to spend a little time with us before the wedding day! For couples who have been in front of the camera with us before, having us photograph the welcome party gives everyone a chance to catch up and allows you and your partner to spend a few minutes in front of the camera together again before your wedding day. No matter what, our goal is to feel more like friends than vendors on your wedding day. Having us capture your welcome party is a great way to add another touch point with us and get meaningful photographs at the same time.
When we photograph your welcome party, we’ll have the cherished opportunity to be in the room with your closest family and friends. We love getting the chance to meet family and friends before the wedding day! Photographing a welcome party allows us to chat with the other people we’ll be photographing on the wedding day, which helps everyone feel more comfortable being in front of our cameras. If we’ve already had conversations with your parents and best friends, we have a personal “in” when we show up for other wedding events. This always helps us photograph events in a more personal way.
Most couples we chat with want candid photographs and memories captured from their wedding. Your welcome party photos will include a lot of those moments! We love to be there to capture any formal events or experiences as well as casual in between moments—think dinner toasts, campfire conversations, dessert with your grandparents kind of memories—whatever you decide to include in your welcome party will likely include meaningful interactions with the people you love, things you’ll love to look back on in photographs someday.
Having a photographer at your welcome party or rehearsal dinner allows you to be fully present with your guests. With a seasoned photographer there to capture heartfelt interactions, wild laughter, and tear-filled hugs, you and your loved ones won’t need to worry about grabbing photos on phones all night long.
If we’re available, you have the option to add welcome party or rehearsal dinner coverage to your wedding photography collection with us. We typically skip the actual wedding rehearsal to let everyone focus on the logistics of the rehearsal and then show up to photograph the actual welcome party portion—cocktail hour, toasts, activities, and a few photos of you and your partner if you’d like! Every welcome party is different, so we work with you or your planner ahead of time to determine the best amount of photography coverage and the timing of that coverage.

Wedding photography is my heartbeat. For me, it holds the perfect tension between creativity and authenticity, observation and connection. In front of my camera clients transform to friends, and behind it you'll usually find me tearing up, cheering you on, or holding my breath because of the raw goodness of the moment at hand.
