I loved photographing this family of three at home on a cold winter day. While I love photographing families outside, there is something so personal and special about photographing a family in their own home. Little Luca was just a few weeks old during these in-home newborn photos, and you can tell his parents are absolutely smitten.
It’s always special when I get the chance to photograph couples and families after being their wedding photographer. When Amanda reached out to me to capture these newborn photos for them, I was so honored. When clients come back to me year after year, it’s the best to catch up and capture a new season of life. Knowing their story makes sessions like these even more meaningful.
For Luca’s newborn photos, we focused on capturing family life as it was—no fancy outfits, no over the top props or locations, just two new parents and their baby in their own space. It was casual. It was comfortable. It was them. It was the perfect way to hold onto that newborn season of life.
For the most part during this newborn session, I focused on photos of Luca’s features, expressions, and interactions among the new family of three. Amanda did want to incorporate one special detail in these newborn photos: the bassinet her grandma made. After meeting her grandma at her wedding and seeing the strong relationship they had, it was so sweet seeing Luca in this beautiful family heirloom.
I photographed these newborn photos using both film and digital cameras. Using film really forces me to slow down while photographing, and creates a beautiful pace for a newborn family session.

I’m Becky, a lifestyle and family photographer in Boise, Idaho where I live with my husband and son. Each time I pick up my mom’s old film camera to snap a photo of my boys or grab a phone photo of a mundane moment with my son makes me a better photographer for my clients. As an artist I’m not only creating my favorite work with clients. Day in and day out, I’m capturing the things in my own life worth remembering—the stories I’ll be retelling for years—and I’d love to do that for you.
I love photographing families and the life they are building together. While I love creating beautiful photographs that catalog another year gone by for families, I’m obsessed with capturing raw interactions and families as they truly are. What I hope for my lifestyle and family sessions is that they become a time for families to connect with their loved ones in a way that’s meaningful to them.

Wedding photography is my heartbeat. For me, it holds the perfect tension between creativity and authenticity, observation and connection. In front of my camera clients transform to friends, and behind it you'll usually find me tearing up, cheering you on, or holding my breath because of the raw goodness of the moment at hand.
