We love to say it—Idaho is a hidden gem. When we were chatting with Val and Kala about where to do their engagement photos, they knew they wanted to capture a stunning view of the Idaho landscape. Their sunset engagement photos in Idaho did just that.
Driving out on Swan Falls Road as the sun dropped low, we met Val and Kala for their engagement photos overlooking the Snake River. Kala grew up boating the river, and as we walked along the cliff’s edge she shared childhood stories of summer days on the water. A reminiscent location for Kala turned into a new shared memory for them as a couple as we photographed their engagement photos there.
We love capturing places that are meaningful to couples, and as photographers it’s even better when we get to play with stunning light. We love Idaho sunsets because of their visual masterpiece, but the atmosphere at sunset is also a perfect romantic vibe. Out in the vastness of the Idaho landscape, with a quiet breeze and soft warm light, it’s almost impossible not to pause. During their engagement photos, we asked Kala and Val to pause a few times together to think about their story—what they love about each other, what makes them excited as they anticipate their wedding next summer, how they feel together. It was the perfect way to celebrate them and capture some candid photographs of them together.
Val and Kala, I connected with you both as soon as we sat down for coffee together. We love the ways you make each other better and compliment each other so well. Thank you for trusting us to capture this piece of your story. We wish you all the best as you prepare for your Idaho wedding next summer! Hugs, Becky & Kaleb.
Wedding photography is my heartbeat. For me, it holds the perfect tension between creativity and authenticity, observation and connection. In front of my camera clients transform to friends, and behind it you'll usually find me tearing up, cheering you on, or holding my breath because of the raw goodness of the moment at hand.
